With today's Lesson (click on the word lesson to watch a video from today) we wrap up our work with exponents (for now). As you will see, exponents are used frequently in math. One way exponents are useful is in making large numbers easier to express, this is called Scientific Notation.
Your homework is to create a question for which the answer can be expressed using scientific notation (n.b. you must also provide the answer). Your answer should be provided using proper scientific notation and a reference should be included. You will receive a bonus point for a primary reference source and another bonus point if you have to convert the answer into scientific notation yourself (be fair no cheating here and using a calculator!)
Example:
Q: The human body on average contains how many cells?
A: 3.72 × 1013

Students grasp the concept of a function as a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. They understand that functions describe situations where one quantity determines another. They can translate among representations and partial representations of functions (noting that tabular and graphical representations may be partial representations), and they describe how aspects of the function are reflected in the different representations.
