The Canvas Dashboard

Your Canvas Dashboard is divided into three regions.

1. Global Navigation

2. Sidebar

3. Recent Activity

The Global Navigation is the static menu across the top of the page that gives you direct access to

1. all of your courses and groups,
2. a list of assignments assigned to you, or that need to be graded in your courses,
3. quick access to the gradebook for any of your courses,
4. and the global Calendar for an aggregated view of all events in your courses.

The Help Corner is a static menu in the Global Navigation bar and provides quick links to

1. Your Name and Settings will take you to your personal profile or notification settings page
2. The Inbox link will take you to your Conversations.
3. Logout allows you to exit Canvas.
4. Help takes you to the Canvas Guides, Canvas Community, or Canvas Support.

1. The To Do list helps you keep track of assignments that you need to grade. Click on any link and Canvas will direct you to the Speedgrader where you can immediately begin grading!

2. The Coming Up feed lists the next few assignments and events coming up within your courses.

3. Recent Feedback allows you to quickly see the most recent feedback received from students in your courses. Students will see feedback provided by instructors.

4. (Not Shown) The button allows you to create a new course in Canvas.

This area contains a stream of recent activity from all of your courses.

1. Announcements - Shows recent announcements made in your courses.

2. Conversations - Shows any new messages received from students (or teachers) in your courses.

3. Assignment Notifications - Shows updates related to graded/ungraded assignments.

4. Discussions - Shows new posts on discussions in your courses.

To view the details of each section hover the mouse over the section area and click the Show More button.

Blue numbers indicate the number of new items inside the corresponding section.
