The SAMR model was developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura as a method to assist teachers in more effectively integrating technology into teaching and learning. Just like Blooms Taxonomy, the SAMR model moves through successive levels that lead to higher order thinking. In addition, although it is desirable to reach higher order thinking levels in the classroom, it isn't always necessary, or possible, to only be teaching and learning at higher orders. Similarly, it isn't necessary or possible to be integrating technology in such a way. However, as we move forward with technology integration, it is important to understand how and when it would be possible to transform our classroom by using technology to help us accomplish things that were once impossible or inconceivable otherwise.
